4 PAWS Pet Food Pantry

4 PAWS Pet Food Pantry is an outreach program of the Episcopal Parish of Alton and serves the needs of the local community.

The mission of 4 PAWS Pet Food Pantry is to:

1. Supplement pet food supplies for those who are hungry or food insecure so they won’t need to feed their own food to their beloved pets.
2. Reduce the number of pets surrendered to shelters because of the cost of pet food.
3. Improve the nutrition of both the humans and animals in the population we serve.

On the first Sunday of the month, 4 PAWS Pet Food Pantry distributes free dog and cat food from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 10 E. 3rd Street, Alton, on the Market Street entrance. The only information we request is the person’s name and the number of cats and/or dogs that are dependent on their care.

Those who come to the pet pantry will receive a tote bag on their first visit and are encouraged to bring the bag on their next visit to the pantry. Each person will sign in, listing the animals, cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies. We provide up to ten pounds of dry food for each type of animal. Example: if a person has two cats and five kittens, a total of ten pounds of cat food and ten pounds of kitten food will be distributed to that person. When available, we also give canned foods and treats.

We gratefully accept monetary donations to purchase pet food. If you would like to make a monetary donation, checks may be mailed to the church, or on the church website, episcopalalton.org, select DONATE. In the Fund drop-down menu, select Pet Food Pantry. Collection jars may be found at several local businesses:

Daniel-Randall Veterinary Clinic – Godfrey
Great Rivers Animal Hospital – Alton
Farm Fresh – Roxana
Mississippi Mud Pottery – Alton
St. Peter’s Hardware – Alton

Bagged or canned dog and cat foods, including bags that have been opened, may be donated as well. Pet treats, toys, and other pet supplies are also accepted.
